Help

I am in for some (what I call) long runs and, therefore, in desperate need of some good tunes to keep me going. Desperate, desperate need. All 5 of you who read this, send me some of your favorite music that will keep me distracted while my legs and lungs are on fire.
Your audio acumen is much appreciated.

Good luck, Katie...but I don't think my classic rock will amuse you for two hours!

I get a bunch of interesting and new music through the iTunes free singles of the week, though they may not be free now. Sometimes they're dumb, but there's at least one goodie a week. Here's some random tunes to try:

Heavy Cross, by Gossip
Catch me if you can, Comic Book Heroes
Fireflies, Owl City
Next in line, Meese
Don't wake me, Love and Theft
No te aguites, Los Hollywood
The Longest Road, Morgan Page
Another way to die, Jack White and Alicia Keys
Hard to believe, VOTA
My love sees you, Beni
That's not my name, The Ting Tings
Mr. Hurricane, Beast
Cry for you, September
I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you, Black Kids
Sleepyhead, Passion Pit
Love Struck, V Factory
I know what I am, Band of Skulls
One Day, The Juan MacLean

Sorry I got carried away. But now you have a place to start. Good luck!

You would die laughing if you could peek into the 'work it baby' playlist on my ipod. But here are some I'm willing to let you know I listen to---the others will remain my closet favorites. (there may be some show tunes involved...)

Whole Wide World, Wreckless eric
Big Girl (You are beautiful), Mika
(ha ha, this was for when I was pregnant)

Violet Hill, Coldplay
Let's See How Far We've Come, Matchbox 20

Paralyzer, Finger 11
Suffer For Fashion, Of Montreal
Fergalicious (don't judge, sometimes you need to catchy ones to keep you going!)

And my absolute favorite that will keep me going no matter what is "All these things that I've done", The Killers.

Good luck!

I love to find songs that have the word "run" or "running" in them. Van Halen and Dixie Chicks come to mind right off.

I'm also very weird and like to run to broadway show tunes. Would those help?

Somebody call 911...... I dont even know what the song is called or who it is by, but I am loving the list that is already here. I will send you a workout cd someday, and if you make a cool mix hook me up to. What a great idea!! Love you long run time.

any killer song is great for me. also, an 80s classic- take on me by ah ha is extremely motivating for some odd reason. if you need more call me...i've got a whole bunch that i personally love.

Katie,
Go to NPR's "All Songs Considered" There you will find the listeners picks for best songs so far this year. Some very cool run/spin songs! Also, Bon Iver titles, which are not for running - but astonishingly beautiful for folding laundry to.
